Y2 Reading & Writing Moderation & Assessment (3): Cross School Moderation

Please note, this training is run in partnership with education charity Quest for Learning.

3rd of 3 sessions, supporting Year 2 Teachers in understanding and applying Statutory Teacher Assessment Framework for reading and writing.

Moderating Reading and Writing at KS1: Making secure judgments

"Internal moderation is a non-statutory but vital process conducted by schools internally and, where possible, with other schools. Moderation should be a collaborative process with colleagues across key stages and should be undertaken throughout the academic year. This supports the quality assurance of TA judgements and provides a valuable opportunity for professional development."

KS1 Teaacher assesment guidance October 2019

With moderation a key element of Year 2 assessment, we are delighted to offer KS1 teachers an opportunity to meet with other Year 2 teachers to moderate reading and writing, under the guidance of experienced consultant Julie Sargent.

This course will:

  • support you in making robust judgements with regard to reading and writing

  • consider how to secure and evidence standards in reading and writing

  • experience a professional development opportunity to discuss judgements against the teacher assessment frameworks for 2020

Delegates will need to bring with them a set of evidence for peer moderation and review for both reading and writing.
