Developing depth and greater depth learning in mathematics

Aim:

To determine illustrated meanings of ‘depth’ and ‘greater depth’ in mathematics, as defined by the NCETM, whilst exploring use of subtle differentiation to meet the needs of all learners.

Background:

This interactive online training will allow participants to identify examples of what ‘depth’ and ‘greater depth’ can look like for learners in Key Stage 1 and 2, as informed by materials written by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM).

In light of COVID-19, opportunities for all children to develop a deep understanding of key concepts will be explored, whilst additional layers of possible learning are added for those with more developed and sophisticated mathematical thinking.
