Whole class reading: access for all

This webinar will explore the inclusive teaching of English, with a particular focus on vocabulary building, oracy and reading comprehension strategies for all. The webinar will introduce participants to principles and practical strategies that can be used by teachers to ensure that English lessons improve reading outcomes for all learners.

The webinar will be led by Julie Sargent, independent English Consultant with Innovate Education, who has a proven history of supporting schools to develop rich and exciting English curricula for all pupils. Julie will explore principles of selecting appropriate and enjoyable texts, strategies for supporting comprehension and practical ideas for nurturing a love of reading in all your pupils.

Claire Martin an English Lead and Primary Head of School and Colette Lloyd, Speech and Language Therapist will share a case study of how their MAT has applied these principles, the challenges involved and the impact they have had. The case study explores how partnership work between the school and Speech and Language Therapist has further enriched the English curriculum by ensuring that evidence-based, research-informed strategies and interventions are built into the universal offer for all children, in addition to informing targeted and specialist provision for children with SEN
