Getting writing 'right' at KS1

Many schools are refining and developing their curriculum for writing, with a particular focus on ensuring that children in KS1 develop key writing skills, whilst accessing an engaging curriclum for writing. This session will:

  • give careful consideration to appropriate writing outcomes in KS1using high-quality texts to inspire and demonstrate writing

  • reflect on how to teach and develop composition for all learners

  • consider effective approaches to the application of phonics in writing and how to teach early sentence construction

  • share ideas to develop a 'fit for purpose' writing curriculum
