Training for Teaching assistants

Teaching assistant are a valuable resource in the classroom.  In order for us to maximise the impact of these, our teaching assistants need to have access to CPD to support children in developing as both readers and writers.   

Bespoke support for reading could include:

• Phonics: subject knowledge and delivering sessions

• Reading comprehension strategies: a practical guide
• Supporting fluency in reading
• Effective questioning techniques
• Developing independence

Bespoke support for writing could include:

• Phonics: subject knowledge and delivering sessions
• Phonics: application in writing
• Barriers to writing and strategies to support
• Framework for working with a small focused group
• Scaffolding to develop independence
